In our effort to achieve a beautiful, glowing , without imperfections skin, we tend to do things or follow procedures that might be harmful. We may have bad habits that affect our skin as well.
Those mistakes or wrong procedures will have an effect on our skin’s health and the consequences will be obvious sooner or later. Here are some of them:
You don’t adequately moisturize your skin. You may apply anti-aging serums or creams but a good moisturizer is needed as well.
You apply hyaluronic acid on dry skin instead of damp. Your skin will be dehydrated. Once absorbed, you should apply a moisturizer that contains occlusives and emollients.
You don’t wear sunscreen. Sunscreens protect the skin from the UV rays that can cause damage, premature aging even skin cancer.
You don’t remove your makeup properly. Regardless of how you do it, take your time. There is no need to rush.
You exfoliate too often. Dead cells are naturally shed off and exfoliation helps this process. Nevertheless, over exfoliation weakens the skin barrier.
You exfoliate with home made recipes you have seen on the social media. Those recipes often contain ingredients that are harsh for the skin and will eventually cause damage.
You practice at home procedures such as microneedling that should be done by a professional. Those tools have to be sterilized otherwise you can’t get infections. Moreover, precautions are required to avoid side effects. I believe it is better to have them done by a specialist.
You do facial massage at home with comedogenic oils. This will lead to clogged pores.
You do face massage or face yoga in the wrong way. This may cause more sagging skin and wrinkles. Always stand in front of a mirror so as to be sure that you don’t cause more wrinkles on your face. If you doubt about an exercise, skip it.
You eat sugar. This may not be a bad skincare habit but eating sugar is not beneficial for the health. It does also affect the skin. Accelerates the process of glycation, indeed.
If you already know that you do any of the above, consider whether you need to make some changes. It’s never too late.
