I decided to include this serum in my skincare routine two months ago. It wasn’t the first time I used growth factors. I had used in the past a serum by a Korean brand and I was very pleased with the results. Unfortunately, I can’t find that serum anymore.
Back to the Ordinary’s serum. I am currently on the third bottle. Before I give my opinion on the serum, let’s look at its ingredients first.
The serum contains:
Nicotiana Benthamiana Hexapeptide-40 sh-Oligopeptide-1, a peptide complex. It imitates the action of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) which is a protein that plays an essential role in skin cell regeneration and repair. It is alleged to enhance collagen and elastin synthesis and therefore skin firmness, repair skin texture and reduce fine line and wrinkles.
Nicotiana Benthamiana Hexapeptide-40 sh-Polypeptide-76, also a peptide complex. Mimics the action of Transforming Growth Factors (TGF). It is claimed that TGF boost collagen and elastin production, help wound healing and probably promote skin rejuvenation.
Nicotiana Benthamiana Octapeptide-30 sh-Oligopeptide-2, a peptide complex believed to enhance skin cell turnover. It may boost collagen and elastin synthesis. Thus, it has a potential antiaging action.
The serum contains also Glycerin as a humectant.
It is a water-based serum, without fragrance, alcohol-free and oil-free.
My thoughts about the serum so far
I believe that the two-month period is too short to judge its effectiveness. Nevertheless, I can mention some small improvements that I have already noticed.
My skin’s elasticity is improved and it is less saggy. I also see a slight improvement in wrinkles.
The brand recommends using it morning and evening. However, I apply it to my face only in the evening because in the morning I use a serum with a Vitamin C derivative. Even though it is a derivative, I don’t want to risk reducing the effectiveness of the growth factors serum.
Overall, having realistic expectations, I am satisfied with this serum. I’ll continue its use to see If I can get optimal results in the long-term. The price is affordable and I didn’t get any irritation or any other side effect.
The only downside that I can find is that because it is a water-based serum, it is too liquid and runs out quickly.
